Happy 2008! I wanted to post to let you all know of some resolutions for the Burkes...
1. Weight loss. John and I will start a competition to lose the largest percentage of weight by June. Whoever wins will get a prize - which has yet to be determined. I have been working hard to fatten up before the competition begins next Monday.
2. Financial Peace. That's right - we like Dave Ramsey, but we do have a car payment. So we plan to pay it off. If you are familiar with his plan, he jokes to eat rice and beans (to live cheaply) while you pay something off. So in coordination with our #1 goal, we bought a Sams-size bag of beans to make with brown rice for a cheap, low-calorie meal.
3. Organization. I can't take it anymore. Our house is spiraling out of control with post-holidays madness. Okay, maybe not that bad, but I plan to go back on my fall schedule of doing laundry daily (just a load) so that we don't end up with Mt. Laundry - which lives in our room right now.
4. Breathe. Ahh - we plan to enjoy the kids and not over-commit to 'extracurricular activities'. Except that Drew wants to play baseball this spring. And Jack is interested in soccer. And we are helping with some stuff at the school. And we want to be more involved at church. Well, maybe this goal won't work.
Have a great Thursday everyone! I'll post pictures of New Years tomorrow hopefully!!

Yay Burkes! Way to be resolutely resolute!
Ok...Resolutions #1 and #2 sound GREAT...but from past experience...doing wash daily never worked for me...I always ended up doing 14-15 loads of wash on Saturdays, but that did cut in on Saturday activities! Good luck...and Happy New year!
